Summary
The Controller manages HCU’s daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial processes. This role is primarily hands-on, overseeing staff accountants and ensuring timely preparation of financial statements. The Controller focuses on maintaining strong internal controls and supporting the leadership with reliable financial information. The Controller will report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and billing.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Support Medicare/Medicaid and managed care billing compliance.
- Coordinate with external auditors and assist in audit preparation.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and internal controls.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and monitor expenses.
- Supervise accounting staff, ensuring accurate and timely work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, healthcare or home health preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and healthcare billing/reimbursement practices.
- Detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable in a compliance-driven environment.
Pay is commensurate on experience.
